Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency, and Spokane County develop specific rules for burning to keep our lives and property safe.
We, in the West Plains, live in a wildland-urban interface. ANY outdoor burning or spark-producing activity can pose a threat. This can include permit or rule burns, recreational fires, motorized vehicles, welding, fireworks, smoking, burn barrels (illegal), and other activities. The following information will assist in providing current burn notifications and information to help make wise decisions before burning outdoors.
It is the land owner’s responsibility to ensure rules and regulations are followed. ***Outdoor burning within District boundaries, of any type (except cooking), must be reported to Fire District 10 prior to the intended burn. Saturday or Sunday burning must be reported to Fire District 10 no later than 5:00pm the Friday before the intended burn date. We will provide guidance and burn restrictions updates. If you have questions related to open burning, please call(800) 323-BURNor call Fire District 10 (509) 244-2425 between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.
